Clearing the locked topics...
Y
There are so many locked topics...Maybe delete the topics not posted in for 30 days? (Don't count stickies)
T
The locked messages for the thread moves automatically delete after a certain time period (24 hours?). The other locked topics get sent to the bottom of the topic list after a day or so. It may look cluttered every once in a while, but it usually doesn't last more than 24 hours.

Yes but deleting them?Wouldn't it save space? Also, you do not need to search that much.

It looks like a mess. But it's an organized mess at that. If it ever became an issue of bandwidth usage and space allotment, I'm sure stuff would disappear exponentially. Leaving topics open, and encouraging people to search a topic to make sure it exists before they post, is the most efficient way to keep down on the clutter, rather than having to delete multiple copies of the same topic, or topics that haven't been posted in(bumped) in thirty or more days.

I didn't say that the locked topics automatically delete. I said the topics that are created when a topic is moved automatically delete :)The rest just dwindle down to the bottom of the list. There aren't that many, really. I counted maybe half a dozen each on the first 4-5 pages of general discussion, technical help, etc.

oh ok, i got confused for a moment.

Someone should delete the topics made by idiots that post the exact same topic in multiple areas.
Or the topics made by people that obviously open their mouths before searching and finding an older topic asking the same exact thing that they just posted. It makes searching easier to find the ORIGINAL topic, rather than all of the nonsense ones first, and then the original topic 5 or so entries down.

Even better would be to "append" a topic and simply combine two or more topics under the original.
So when someone posts Topic A, and then 6 months later, instead of adding onto Topic A, they make Topic B, but B = A, one can simply take all of Topic B, and append it to Topic A, and then delete Topic B.This would also be assuming that Topic B has some useful information that Topic A does not.

Replying to #10
That is called merging topics.

Most people use the handy feature called "SEARCH." Before posting another topic, type in some keywords dealing with your topic and see if it is already in existence . If a topic is over six months old, then a new topic could be started, even bumping an old topic if there is something truly relevant to add to it, or a plausible amendment is ok. Just use a little forethought before starting a new topic. Having to go back and find all those "dead" topics to clear out can be tedious at best, as we have quite a few members to keep track of as is. Please though, make sure the topic you post is IN the correct section. Please, please, please don't ask how to repair your malfunctioning flashcard in the announcement thread. -_-'
