Can a ps3 use ps2 controllers...

On ps3 games?I have seen converter connectors, and I heard apparently they can make it work on ps3...but will they work for ps3 games (ie god of war 3) or will they only work for the older ps1/ps2 games?

no they most likely will not work with ps3 games.

I Don't have a PS3, but i would probably assume that unless they use the 6-axis functionality that it SHOULD work.
Sony is usually pretty good about backwards compatibility.
I Wouldn't hold too much weight on what i think, but it's definitely worth looking up on a PS3 or Sony forum.

I have a ps3 and i confirm that u can use ps1/ps2 controllers on ps3,they work fine,vibration and everything,but of course it doesnt have sixaxis

Quickest way to check.How many USB ports does your PS3 have? (And if it's a PS3 Slim, then no it cannot play PS2 games).

YOUR HI-JACKING MA THREAD!!!!!!!!!...ahem, some 60gb models run them, but otherwise most ps3's don't let ps2 games work, nor burnt (ie downloaded from the net) work.Best way to know for a newb/noob (unless you have a slim which doesn't let them work...) is to shove in a ps2 game and see what it says...

i use a ps2 controller on my ps3 to play god of war 3 cause i dont like the ps3 triggers,i prefer the ps2 L2/R2 BUTTONS
