Anime Conventions & Cosplay Events

Any of you Otakus (Anime lovers, geeks) ever attend an Anime Convention or competed on a Cosplay event? My friends keep bugging me to attend some events but I keep putting off, eventually they gave up ;DI love Anime (& Sentai as well), but can't muster the gall to actually dress up in Anime threads (make-up & hairdo as well), here in the Philippines, almost every month there is an Anime event, at first Otaku getting together is kewl but as everything in eccess goes, now it's outright ridiculous ;D
C
It is ridiculous and corny if you ask me
C
Three of the funniest Anime events ever held here in the country are:Anime Prom - Prom event for Otakus from 3rd year to 4th year High School, same deal as a "normal" prom, what's not normal are the Otakus. ;DAnime Sports-fest - A ridiculous sports event featuring the Otakus of the Philippines' "best" (lamest no talent) Otaku Volleyball, Badminton & Basketball players making fools of themselves.Anime on Ice - quite like Ice Capades only with Otakus prancing around on the ice rink of SM Megamall.
C
what are otakus
C
It's on the lead post:Otaku - someone who's into, or are addicted to Anime
S
I personally know some good cosplayers and sure they do make great costumes and etc but for every good one there's a hundred bad costumes and ugly faces that are trying to be characters that doesn't suit them at all
C
Its so exagerated really you can have other ways to show how you like anime
C

ROFL!Cal, you do know that dressing up us a Catgirl is considered kinky & naughty in some places, now do you? ;)
C

C
Anyways, haven't there any such events in Malaysia?
C
once in a blue moon, yes.....in fact it happen last year....but i didnt go since i need to work on that day...
C
theres rarely one of those thingys in australia
game convetnions happen often, though
C
There's a major event that happens annually here, called C3 Con, it's a major convention combining Anime Conventions, Cosplay Events, & a Toys & Videogames Convention.Oh & we do have rare Star Wars Conventions & Harry Potter Conventions here, but it kinda gets Swallowed by Anime Events
C
wow similar to those happen in japan......but then japanese do really well in cosplay
C
That's because the Japanese have nothing better to do than grow up to 40 year old Otaku Virgins with no decent life ROFL ;D
C
