Again - cigar box

I hope this question wasn't already posted beforeI need a pointer to how I should go about solving the puzzle inside the box..In case nobody wants to be spoilt?

I know it should be a gun but there's just too many pieces D:
Is it supposed to be like.. facing the left or the right? Will the solid pieces be making the pistol's body..? @_@
