A very important suggestion

I would like it if Seph or someone turned on the Word Censor. I've been seeing words like ''fag'' or ''suck my c**k''...
There are a lot of words that need to be censored. Somebody mite be offended you know, by those words.
Please do something about this. There is way to much flamming going around here. Please be professional about this and don't joke around .

you report the messsages and we deal with them on a case-by-case basis. Swearing can be acceptable in some situations, (for example in a rant). The word censor does not discriminate between acceptable and unacceptable situations, and its highly inefficient code wise. Furthermore, if you're talking about game comments, there isnt a word censor to turn on.

yes, but it's also british slang for cigarette. That is why you report it and we deal with it on a case by case basis rather than using a completely indiscriminate system.

I haven't seen much use of the word "Fag" on the Romulation forums. But reported posts are handled quickly. I have never seen an Open Report. Everytime I check they have already been dealt with.

Clearly you haven't looked closely :P. People tend to leave it for a minute or so and then edit it. Just for the flammed person to see it.

Wasn't also the "technical" reason considered why the censor was on?ie it may pick up words in other words (ie shitzu-shit) or just the fact it slows some forums up?I'm fine ramming the report button, since I know a few that wouldn't like the word being said, I'm happy crusading for them.

There's a censor. You can turn it on if you go into your profile, go to Look and Layout and check off 'Leave words uncensored. '. Although that doesn't really change the tone of the message.

But when you write some words there are bad words in it sometimes and when your word gets then censored... yes you see my point.Don't misunderstand me. This is a great idea for forgetful people.

Some people just can't help it. I use the * censor on my expletives, yet that doesn't really do much.

You cant expect the likes of Tirith to read every single post to see if there is abuse going on.If 2 x people call each other fags it dont bother me as Im not one.But certain online forums have an obligation to make sure even fags are allowed to visit without abuse etc getting thrown at them.If someone aims something at you,take a screenshot with screenhunter etc before they can edit it and pass it on somehow to Loony.

If you edit it then I honestly do not see an issue, you know you made a mistake and you corrected it. If you keep doing that then that's another case, but so far we haven't had one so no need to worry about it.

This goes for RomUlation as well. I have given out many warnings for using fag in a derogatory sense. Homophobia is not accepted here.
