Did some research and it has to be played with the stylus. you dont need a grip.
Do we need hardware (except for the ds and memory card) to play it?
This isn't a bad game, actually. It's a bit obnoxious on Hard mode, but on Medium it plays like a nice combination of EBA and GH... biggest annoyance is that there aren't many songs, so you keep playing the same ones over the course of the career mode.
