This is a historial RPG for Nintendo. While Sega had already done a semi-3D aspect RPG on Sega Genesis called LANDSTALKER, which you MUST try it if you have never played it, Nintendo was a bit behind. When Quest 64 came out, it became clear Nintendo was here to stay on 3D-aspect RPGs. Small game, interesting and anime-style.
This is an outstanding RPG on the N64. Although it's one of the few, it's by far the best (not counting Zelda).
Nice. Once again guys pretending to right reviews. If it ain't yours, don't post it! or give credit! @Nightroad Nice, you learned how to use Wikipedia!
This game brings back memories, that's the reason it's fun... Every year I play this game and finish it trying all the elements and I don't get tired of doing it... I rate it 10 out of 10 but the story needs a little more effort, (that is: side quests, items, equipments, weapons, friends, sidekicks, party) the story is pretty straightforward, beat the element boss move to the next town defeat the boss, etc, etc, etc, until you reach the last boss....
i own a copy of it for the n64 and it is definently worth it, its pretty original, one thing that sets it apart is the ability to move around and dodge attacks and having to aim your attacks as well, this game was great when i was little and playing it again just makes me realize how cheap rpg's are now :) i rate it 10/10
i owned this game for the longest time. I loved playing it. i always wanted to play the second one but never got to
I've always wanted to play this game. Except at the time I didn't have a N64. These are the reasons why I love emulators. I get a chance to play the games I've never been able to play before.
Man I remember when I rented this game for the first time when I was little I was in a battle with every 2 steps I took! I remember I had to go down a hill, talk to someone, and then go back up and it took me over 40 minutes just to do that and I was so mad I took the game back ASAP. Now that Im older its time for me to play this game and Im sure I will enjoy it now that I understand games better.
I remember Mario stole the spotlight from this nice RPG.
A great RPG for the N64; however it is unlike your traditional RPGs. Quest 64 puts you in control of a young boy named Brian(Needs sources), as he searches for his father. Like your father, you are a spirit tamer, which is a special sort of mage that can commune and see spirits that normal people cannot. In Quest 64 you do not level up. Instead, you find spirits throughout the world ( a total of 98 can be found in the world ) and off the enemies you defeat. You have 4 major stats. Agility (more on this later), MP (determines how much spells you can cast), HP(Your life points; if it reaches 0 you die), and Defense (how much damage you can absorb from either physical or magical sources). If you visit your stats menu you will notice bars that fill up over time. Using magic spells causes your MP bar to fill, which increases your MP by 1 point every 100%. Taking damage increases your HP bar and Defense and avoiding attacks and walking about the world raises your Agility. Your agility determines your "movement ring". Each time you enter battles (All battles are random, except special fights), you enter a "ring". Each character has a ring and can only move within that ring. Move outside of the arena and you escape from battle, but you can only move when it is your turn. Using the ring to your advantage, you can avoid enemy's physical attacks, which are usually the more devastating compared to their magical attacks. All in all, quest64 lacks a good story, but the game play makes up for it and turns it into a decent cliche RPG.
