I'm not sure if I'm the only one or not, but the ROM is bad. It resets to the very beginning of the ROM as soon as you try to do any action in your first battle. It feels like someone's trolling with this one. :P Not sure if there's a way to report this or not.
I think the dawn of the soul better than this version... but Final Fantasy is Final Fantasy.
This game has been a GREAT experience to play with.
Just like ANY Final Fantasy game, it excells in every detail, to charectors plots, to secrets dungeons that everyone loves!
6/5
The only game worth playing on a GBA emulator...even 15 years later the plot, characters, classic FF rpg mechanics, GREAT soundtrack and visuals can still engage you enough to enjoy playing thru it.
However random battles can become VERY tedious and repetitive and there are two certain relics that enables you to get overpowered x8 hits and experienced players might be trying to maximize esper stat bonus on level up but really it's nothing to bother with because unless your a perfectionist the game is pretty easy just playing thru to experience it. If you don't mind the repetitive combat this game can keep you engaged into the gameplay and storyline for about 30-40 hours.
If you have ever played the later games in the series at any point in your life (FF7-10) but missed this one, pick this one up and you will not be disappointed. =)

Help please! I'm at the battle with Vargas and i can't seem to input the blitz comand! :( i tried it atleast 100 times :D please help! (the comand is -left,right,left then A) so i don't think i entered it wrong
I'm right with awesmazing. Can't even start to explain how effinamaizng this game is. For me, far and beyond the best FF. I really hope that putting this game out on the GBA don't imply that they arn't going to port it to the DS the same way they did III and IV. Both of those were beautiful and this deserves the same treatment.
It crashes at the first battle...
Tried playing this one a while back...got stuck, lol. But after playing Dissidia(don't care if you hate it or love it, I think it's a decent game and have enjoyed every minute of it) I gained a newfound love for all final fantasies and their characters. So I'm going back through all the older ones to learn more about them and hopefully beat them this time!
1 and 2, I find easy to get lost in...III I have for the DS, and I still haven't beaten it but my brother has, IV I've started to play like five or six times and I never get anywhere but I have to say I like Cecil and Kane, V just started playing today and just downloaded VI right now, lol. VII...Disk 2, VIII LOVE IT! Beat it like three times, but it was the first I ever played and it's my favorite. IX is awesome, Disk Three. X I beat, XII...look back through that game and realize it's a Star Wars homage, lol.
As for spin-offs, Dirge was okay but Crisis Core...I hated it, the story was good, loved the cutscenes but after a while I got tired of playing it and gave it back to the guy I was borrowing it from. X-2 did a good job bring the job system to the modern format, I love job classes and that game was alright in my book, not great but alright...:P Sorry just had to throw in my opinions. Hoping VI is as awesome as everyone says it is...it has a lot of hype to live up to.
Having played every mainstream (This meaning i've not tried the spin off's such as DS's FFXII revenant wings and PS2's Dirge of Cerebrus) FF since III (i have played the I II dawn of souls remakes though i'm not entirely sure if they're true to their originals), I can safely say this is one of the best FF for it's console. V and VI are on a level pegging for me when it comes to the snes-level, although all the stories are truly in depth. If you even have an inkling you might like the RPG genre then try this game! For the record THE best FF IMHO is FFX on the PS2, though i'm ready for XIII to blow my mind.
In short the magic system of learning magic from espers is brilliant, each character having their own unique attacks gives each character their own edge in battle, and the story itself is incredible. To be fair i'm hard-pressed to give anything below 9 to a final fantasy, so this is going to have to be a firm 10/10 for this one
Dear people who think they don't like this game because it is "turn based":
Every single final fantasy is, in some way, turn based (except MAYBE Crisis Core, but I'm still convinced that the game is too slow to be called a TRUE action game). This game is AMAZING and if you turn ATB to Active you will definitely never be bored in battle - the battles are challenging, even on Wait, but when you turn the battle speed up all the way and turn Active on... You're scrambling to input commands and cast spells before the enemy beats you down.
